I created Yoga at A.M.L. because so many of us are looking for the same things: community, a chance to slow down, and space to actually be present with ourselves.
We want connection, but finding community as an adult can be hard. We know we need time for ourselves, but life keeps moving. And sometimes, between work, relationships, responsibilities, goals, and everything else we're carrying, we can become so used to just going that we lose touch with ourselves along the way.
As a therapist and Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Facilitator (TCTSY-F), I wanted to create something that brings those needs together. Offering these classes virtually makes that space more accessible. You can show up from home, in comfortable clothes, without a commute, an unfamiliar studio, or needing to already feel like you “belong” in a yoga space.
And we're doing more than moving our bodies.
My approach is influenced by core TCTSY principles like choice-making, non-coercion, present-moment awareness, and shared authentic experience. You'll have opportunities to notice what you're experiencing, decide what works for you, and practice trusting the choices you make, while sharing space with other people doing the same.
Because sometimes we need an opportunity to slow down, ground ourselves, reconnect with who we are in this season of life, and spend some time actually being with ourselves.
And sometimes, we need other people to do life alongside.
Do I need to have experienced trauma to participate?
No. “Trauma-informed” describes how the practice is facilitated, not who the class is for. You might come because you're managing stress, want to move more, are working toward personal goals, want to feel more present, or simply want a different approach to yoga. You don't need a diagnosis or trauma history to participate.
Do I need yoga experience or flexibility?
Not at all. You don't need to know the poses, touch your toes, or have ever stepped on a yoga mat before. Movements are offered as options, and you're encouraged to modify, pause, or choose something different based on what you're experiencing in your body.
What can I expect from an A.M.L. yoga class?
Expect community, choice, and mind-body connection. My approach is influenced by core principles of Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY), including:
Choice-Making — having options throughout the practice and deciding what works for you and your body.
Non-Coercion — no pressure to perform, push through, or participate in every movement. You’re in control of your practice.
Present-Moment Awareness — slowing down enough to notice what you're experiencing in your body and what’s happening for you right now.
Shared Authentic Experience — practicing alongside one another, facilitator included, without the expectation that everyone moves or experiences things the same way.
Together, these create opportunities to practice noticing, choosing, and trusting yourself on the mat, with skills that can carry into how you approach yourself, your relationships, your goals, and the choices you make in everyday life.
